About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team at BAE Systems Australia. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will play a critical role in the development and implementation of propulsion systems for our naval vessels.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work within the Platform Manufacturing Engineering team to develop and implement propulsion systems for our naval vessels.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the engineering value stream to develop artefacts that can be used by production floor workers.
  • Develop process and installation instructions for complex systems.
  • Develop subject matter expertise in propulsion systems and become the first point of contact for any issues that arise on the production floor.
  • Support the installation of equipment onto the ship and ensure smooth handover to the commissioning department.
  • Engage with customers and stakeholders to design, plan, and execute engineering activities and projects.
About You
  • You have a demonstrable interest in Maritime Platform Systems, specifically propulsion systems.
  • You understand the role of manufacturing engineering in a shipyard.
  • You possess a diploma or bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant discipline.
  • You are highly motivated to achieve best results and work as a member of a team.
  • You have a naturally analytical, evidence-based approach to problem solving.
  • You are curious and open-minded, with a healthy scepticism in the absence of solid evidence.
  • You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop good relationships and collaborate effectively with stakeholders.
