Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled Legal Counsel to join our team on a 12-month fixed-term contract for parental leave cover. As a key member of our General Counsel's Office, you will provide corporate, commercial, and financial services legal advice and governance support to all of Avant's businesses.

The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand complex legal and regulatory obligations and industry issues. You will work closely with our Senior Legal Counsel to ensure that our organization operates within compliance guidelines.

This role requires someone who is self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills are essential, as well as the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide corporate legal, commercial, and governance advice to all of Avant's businesses
- Undertake review of marketing material to ensure legal compliance
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts
- Offer insurance product advice and documentation
- Provide statutory interpretation and advice on legislative reform impacting Avant's business
- Support litigation efforts for corporate litigation
- Offer legal advice on complaints and potential disputes, including at AFCA
- Deliver staff legal training
- Collaborate with senior lawyers, General Counsel, and Office of the CEO
