Importance of This RoleThe Salvation Army Youth Services delivers a comprehensive range of programs aimed at engaging young individuals throughout Australia. Our initiatives create intentional pathways for youth to explore opportunities, establish support networks, and actively participate in their communities.
In collaboration with Youthlink and selected mental health centers, we are offering the headfyrst program. This innovative and complimentary service is designed for young people aged 12 to 25 who are facing co-occurring substance use and mental health challenges.
Role OverviewWe are seeking a proactive and values-oriented AOD/Mental Health Clinician to deliver assessment, treatment, and support for young individuals presenting with dual diagnoses of substance use and mental health issues within a responsive and flexible youth support framework.
This is a permanent, part-time position (15.2 hours per week) with a focus on delivering high-quality services. Salary and conditions will align with the Health Professionals Award Level 3.
Your Responsibilities- Deliver exceptional engagement, assessment, treatment, and support to individuals and families accessing Youthlink headfyrst.
- Implement evidence-based counseling interventions and establish appropriate referral pathways.
- Maintain ongoing communication and relationships with external stakeholders.
- Contribute to the growth and development of services in accordance with the Strategic Plan and client needs.
- Tertiary qualifications in Psychology (must hold Provisional Registration with AHPRA or have submitted internship documentation to AHPRA within two weeks of starting employment).
- A valid NSW Employee Working With Children Check.
- A current NSW Driver Licence.
- Clinical experience in providing evidence-based treatment.
- Ability to build rapport and engage effectively with young individuals.
- Experience in delivering mental health services, including specialized skills in assessing, managing, and treating clients in diverse cultural contexts.
- Strong teamwork capabilities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to impart knowledge in a learning environment.
- Flexibility in service delivery approaches.
- High level of computer literacy, including experience with report writing and electronic client information management systems.
