Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Merchant Risk Specialist to join our team in Sydney, Australia. In this role, you will be responsible for assessing and managing merchant risks, working closely with internal departments to uplift the merchant experience.

Job Description

The successful candidate will have excellent analytical skills, with the ability to assess and identify merchant risks. You will work cross-functionally with internal departments, including Sales and Merchant Experience, to provide continuous feedback on process improvements in the merchant onboarding function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess and manage merchant risks, ensuring they operate in a manner that results in beneficial outcomes for Zip, the Consumer, and the Merchant.
  • Develop strong analytical and problem-solving skills, reviewing merchant applications and getting involved in merchant risk management initiatives.
  • Communicate with the Sales team and Merchant Experience team regarding merchant applications and account variations.
  • Collaborate with the Sales and Merchant Experience teams to provide continuous feedback on process improvements in the merchant onboarding function.
  • Support merchant risk management and risk initiatives, including merchant collections, compliance to the MSA, auditing, and merchant risk projects.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Previous retail or commercial loan assessment experience (preferable, not essential).
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Sound verbal and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle high work volumes and perform effectively under pressure.
  • Time management and ability to keep to deadlines.
  • Experience in multi-tasking to meet all work requirements & timeframes.
  • Understanding of compliance framework and regulations such as privacy, Know Your Customer & Anti-Money Laundering.

  • A base salary of $90,000 per annum, with potential for bonuses based on performance.
