Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Town Planner/Development Assessment Officer to join our team. This role will involve assessing and processing development applications, providing regulatory advice, and delivering excellent customer service. The successful candidate will have strong communication skills, be able to work independently and as part of a collaborative team, and have a deep understanding of NSW Planning regulations.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an urban planning professional to take on a challenging and rewarding role. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Assessing a wide range of development applications in line with statutory and policy requirements
  • Providing professional guidance to applicants and the public on planning and regulatory matters
  • Managing inquiries related to application submissions and regulatory processes
  • Conducting inspections to ensure compliance with approved development conditions
  • Preparing and presenting reports and written correspondence for both internal and public audiences
  • Collaborating with senior planners and contributing to ongoing policy development
  • Maintaining accurate records and adhering to the Council's standards for safety and environmental management
  • Representing the Council at community meetings and effectively communicating complex information

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • A Bachelor degree or diploma in Town Planning, Urban Planning, Environmental Design, Arts or a related field from a recognised institution
  • A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in development assessment or statutory planning, preferably in a local government setting
  • A valid driver's license and willingness to travel for work-related purposes
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Deep understanding and experience with NSW Planning regulations

Benefits and Remuneration

The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary between $81,800 - $93,900 per annum, plus 11.5% superannuation. Additional benefits include:
