About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Scientist to join our team at the ANU College of Asia & the Pacific. As a Research Scientist, you will be responsible for conducting cutting-edge research in renewable energy systems and heavy industry decarbonisation.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in mechanical, systems, or chemical engineering, with a focus on numerical modelling and programming skills. Experience with Python, Modelica, and C/C++ is highly desirable.

You will be working on two exciting projects: the ARENA-funded project on Low-Cost Integration of On-Site Solar PV for Large-Scale Industrial Heat Supply, and the HILT CRC Energy Infrastructure & Supply project. These projects involve developing novel direct electrical heating technologies, integrating on-site PV with packed-bed thermal energy storage systems, and modelling energy systems for heavy industry decarbonisation.

As a Research Scientist, you will have the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment, bridging between simulation and experimental results. You will also have the chance to contribute to the development of detailed component models and use reduced-order modelling methods to integrate components into system-level annual performance simulations.
