Research Scientist

As a Medical Scientist (Research) with the Australian Defence Force, you will be an integral component of the Royal Australian Army Medical Corps (RAAMC), contributing to ADF health capability by undertaking research at the Australian Defence Force Malaria and Infectious Disease Institute (ADFMIDI).
ADFMIDI is a world-recognised centre for infectious disease research and training, ensuring the ADF has the best possible protection against malaria and other infectious diseases through collaborative research, training, and health engagement activities.
The institute is staffed by experienced Military Officers and Public Servants who conduct collaborative research with academic and research organisations in Brisbane, Australia, and across the globe.
As a Medical Scientist (Research), you will provide analysis and research on malaria and other vector-borne diseases, evaluating new drugs, vaccines, and personal protective measures, and providing technical advice and risk assessments.
You may also be required to assist in the planning, coordination, assembly, and deployment of ADF research teams within a tri-service, multi-national operational environment under warlike or non-warlike conditions.
As a member of small specialist research teams or as an individual, you will work closely with medical providers and patients, maintaining confidentiality and being tactful and compassionate.
You will also have contact with a range of service and non-service personnel in advisory and professional roles, communicating effectively in a professional manner both verbally and in writing.
As a Medical Scientist (Research), you will ensure that all research, equipment, and facilities are operated in accordance with appropriate directives and guidelines, adhering to governing and regulatory bodies.
You will perform your duties in a broad spectrum of environments, adapting to a range of workplace conditions and performing your duties wherever and whenever the provision is warranted.
