Job Description:

The Legal Officer is accountable to the Chief Legal Officer and responsible for providing high-quality strategic advice on legal, policy, and legislative reform issues.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide expert advice on legal matters related to the Department's functions and legislative portfolio.
  • Identify complex legal issues, assess risks, and develop strategies for mitigation.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders.
  • Assist in reviewing and developing legal policies, procedures, and templates.

About You:

  • You must demonstrate experience in identifying and assessing complex legal issues under limited supervision.
  • You should have experience interpreting legislation, policies, and guidelines in complex situations.
  • You are expected to provide advice to government agencies on legal issues and risk mitigation.
  • You should be able to prioritize competing workloads and meet deadlines while exercising sound judgement.

Skill Requirements:

  • Degree in law and admission to a Supreme Court.
  • Practicing Certificate.
  • At least 3 years post-admission legal experience.
