Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Structural Designer to join our team at Bechtel Corporation. In this role, you will utilize 2-D/3-D computer-aided design (CAD) to develop design models for civil/structural engineering systems, including earthwork, drainage, road design, and foundation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead or administer work of civil/structural designers and drafters, preparing layouts, study drawings, and detailed 2-D and 3-D CAD design models and construction drawings.
  • Develop designs for complete and complex civil/structural engineering systems with minimal supervision, resulting in detailed scale models and/or construction drawings.
  • Assist in constructing detailed scale models and prepare or assist with the preparation of assigned material requisitions and bid evaluations.
  • Monitor and check work for compliance with approved civil/structural design standards to ensure quality design, reliable/safe plant operation, and construction economy.
  • Participate in constructability reviews and perform other designated responsibilities.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.
  • Specialized courses in drafting, design, and engineering practices.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Extensive experience in design and drafting, with demonstrated skill in a lead role or recognized courses in the directing of personnel.
  • Sound knowledge of design and drafting techniques, engineering drawings, graphic arts, reading of drawings, and reproduction methods used by the discipline.
  • Familiarity with both structural steel and concrete foundation design and drafting.
  • Skill in reading, interpreting, and using related documents and drawings prepared by other project groups.
