Payroll Specialist
About the Role:We are seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to join our team in Melbourne, Australia. In this role, you will be responsible for the accurate completion of fortnightly payroll including interpretation of timesheets, masterfile maintenance and data entry.
Key Responsibilities:- Fortnightly Payroll Processing: End-to-end processing of payrolls, including interpretation of timesheets and data entry.
- Masterfile Maintenance: Updating and maintaining masterfile and payroll records.
- Liaison and Communication: Liaising with staff and management on payroll queries and providing excellent customer service skills.
- Time and Attendance Data: Interpreting time & attendance data to ensure accurate payroll processing.
- Payroll Reporting: Preparing and submitting payroll reports to meet internal and statutory obligations.
- Pension and Benefit Payments: Calculating and processing LSL, termination & redundancy payments, as well as pay increases & back-pays.
- Reconciliation and Payment: Assisting with reconciliation & payment of payroll & payroll-related transactions, including employee benefits and superannuation contributions, garnishee, child support, parental leave.
- Workers' Compensation Claims: Supporting PIAWE calculations for workers' comp claims, processing workers' comp payments & assisting in workers' comp reconciliations and reporting.
- Error Management: Identifying pay errors & implementing corrective action to ensure payroll accuracy.
- System Configuration: Supporting documentation & testing system configuration to improve payroll processes.
- Cross-Support and Coverage: Backfill / cross-support other payroll team members during absences to ensure business continuity.
- Audit Support: Supporting reporting and information gathering for internal and external audits to ensure compliance.
- Payroll Experience: Minimum of 3 years in payroll processing in a payroll team office environment.
- Legislative Knowledge: Solid understanding of payroll legislation and processes, including awards and relevant legislation.
- Interpretation Skills: Sound ability to interpret awards and relevant legislation to ensure accurate payroll processing.
- Computer Skills: Demonstrated computer skills particularly regarding Payroll, T&A & Microsoft Office products.
- Time Management: Time management skills and ability to prioritise and plan to meet deadlines.
- Customer Service: Excellent attention to detail & accuracy, strong customer service skills, polite in approach.
- Confidentiality: Dedication to maintaining confidential information and working effectively under pressure.
- Industry Experience: Experience in health, aged care or similar timesheet-driven payroll environment.
