About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Machine Learning Systems Engineer to join our Central AI team at Atlassian. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in building and maintaining the core infrastructure for machine learning engineers and data scientists to develop, train, evaluate, deploy, and operate machine learning models and pipelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Develop Infrastructure: You will use your software development expertise to design, develop, and maintain large-scale distributed systems using Amazon Web Services (S3, Kinesis, Cloud Formation, EKS, AWS Security and Networking).
  • Lead Engineering Teams: You will lead other engineers to drive involved projects from technical design to launch, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality results.
  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: You will collaborate with other teams and internal customers to set expectations, gather input, and communicate results, promoting a unified foundation for AI across various departments.
  • Develop Core Shared Experiences: You will develop some of the core shared experiences typical in the AI domain, such as search, knowledge discovery, and conversation.
Requirements
  • 5+ Years of Experience: You should have at least 5 years of experience as a software developer.
  • Programming Languages: You should be fluent in at least one modern object-oriented programming language (preferably Java/Kotlin and Python).
  • Continuous Delivery and Integration: You should have experience with Continuous Delivery and Continuous Integration.
  • Distributed Systems: You should have experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems using Amazon Web Services (S3, Kinesis, Cloud Formation, EKS, AWS Security and Networking).
  • Distributed Data Processing: You should have experience with distributed large-scale data processing (preferably Apache Spark).
  • Machine Learning Projects Lifecycle: You should have a sound understanding of machine learning projects lifecycle.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Expert-Level Search Platform: It would be great if you have expert-level experience with search platforms, deep learning training/inference platforms.
  • Databricks Experience: Experience with Databricks is also a plus.
  • Scaling and Deploying Machine Learning Models: Experience with scaling and deploying machine learning models is highly desirable.
