About the Role:

We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Machine Learning Engineer to join our Sydney-based Jira Cloud team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for driving the development and implementation of cutting-edge machine learning algorithms and training sophisticated models.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop innovative machine learning solutions to enhance Jira's workflow collaboration capabilities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build and integrate AI functionalities into Jira.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, upskilling the team in machine learning.
  • Conduct rigorous experimentation and model evaluations to ensure the highest quality of AI solutions.
  • Partner with engineering teams to drive company-wide initiatives and deliver solutions that impact multiple projects.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • Expert-level experience with programming languages such as Java, Python, C#, C/C++, or Ruby.
  • Proven expertise in AI/ML, particularly in Large Language Models (LLMs), with a track record of delivering customer-facing solutions.
  • Familiarity with frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and sci-kit-learn.
  • Strong passion for collaboration, mentoring, and upskilling team members.
  • Ability to consider customer impact when making technical decisions.
