About the Role

We're seeking a highly skilled Principal Machine Learning Engineer to join our Sydney-based engineering team in Jira Cloud, where you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of workflow collaboration in Jira with AI.

As a seasoned expert in AI and Machine Learning, you'll drive the development and implementation of cutting-edge machine learning algorithms and training sophisticated models. You'll collaborate with our cross-functional team to build new AI functionalities into Jira, leveraging your expertise to take on high-level responsibilities and mentor junior team members.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop system and model architectures for AI-driven solutions
  • Conduct rigorous experimentation and model evaluations to ensure optimal performance
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to emerging ML engineers, upskilling the team in AI and ML
  • Partner with engineering teams to drive company-wide initiatives and deliver solutions that impact multiple projects
  • Regularly tackle complex problems in Jira AI, from technical design to launch
Requirements
  • Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field
  • Expert-level experience with prominent programming languages such as Java, Python, C#, C/C++, or Ruby
  • Proven experience delivering AI/ML solutions directly to customers, engaging with user experience and customer feedback
  • Familiarity with TensorFlow, PyTorch, and sci-kit-learn
  • Passion for collaborating with and mentoring team members, with a focus on customer impact
