About the Role

We're seeking a highly skilled Principal Machine Learning Engineer to join our Sydney engineering team in Jira Cloud, where you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of workflow collaboration in Jira with AI.

As a seasoned expert in AI and Machine Learning, you'll drive the development and implementation of cutting-edge machine learning algorithms and training sophisticated models. You'll collaborate with our cross-functional team to build new AI functionalities into Jira, and your daily responsibilities will encompass a broad spectrum of tasks, including designing system and model architectures, conducting rigorous experimentation and model evaluations, and providing guidance to emerging ML engineers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement cutting-edge machine learning algorithms and train sophisticated models
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build new AI functionalities into Jira
  • Develop and maintain high-quality machine learning models and systems
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to emerging ML engineers
  • Conduct rigorous experimentation and model evaluations
Requirements
  • Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field
  • Expert-level experience with one or more prominent programming languages, such as Java, Python, C#, C/C++, or Ruby
  • Proven experience delivering solutions directly to customers, engaging with user experience and customer feedback
  • Familiarity with several machine learning frameworks, including TensorFlow, PyTorch, and sci-kit-learn
  • Passion for collaborating with and mentoring other team members
