About the Role

We're seeking a highly skilled Principal Machine Learning Systems Engineer to join our Central AI team at Atlassian. As a key member of our organization, you will play a pivotal role in building and maintaining the core infrastructure for machine learning engineers and data scientists to develop, train, evaluate, deploy, and operate Machine Learning models and pipelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop large-scale distributed systems using Amazon Web Services (S3, Kinesis, Cloud Formation, EKS, AWS Security and Networking).
  • Build and operate scalable Machine Learning infrastructure using Apache Spark and other technologies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive involved projects from technical design to launch.
  • Lead other engineers to drive technical excellence and innovation in our AI solutions.
  • Develop and maintain the underlying infrastructure and capacities for seamless integration and optimal functionality of AI across various departments.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience as a software developer.
  • Fluency in at least one modern object-oriented programming language (preferably Java/Kotlin and Python).
  • Experience with Continuous Delivery and Continuous Integration.
  • Experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems using Amazon Web Services.
  • Experience with distributed large-scale data processing using Apache Spark.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Expert-level experience with search platforms and deep learning training/inference platforms.
  • Experience with Databricks and scaling and deploying Machine Learning models.
