Role Overview

This is an exciting time to join the National Anti-Corruption Commission. We are seeking an Investigator to assist in investigations into allegations of corrupt conduct, using a range of investigative methodologies.

About the Role

  • To participate in corruption investigations and related work, including the gathering of evidence relating to corruption issues across Commonwealth government agencies.
  • To prepare correspondence and reports on complex matters, utilising highly developed written communication skills.
  • To have knowledge of, or the ability to rapidly acquire a knowledge of relevant legislation and the Commission's policies and procedures.
  • To undertake analysis of large and complex data sets of information, identifying relevant lines of enquiry.
  • To contribute to the timely, efficient, and effective progress of investigations.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Assisting with investigation planning;
  2. Conducting interviews, under caution or otherwise;
  3. Taking written statements;
  4. Assisting with preparation of briefs for public/private hearings;
  5. Executing search warrants;
  6. Preparing briefs of evidence;
  7. Giving evidence in court; and
  8. Managing and handling exhibits.

Working Arrangements

This is a full-time role working in Canberra and Sydney. The successful candidate will be required to maintain a security clearance to Negative Vetting 1.

Eligibility

  • Citizenship - applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
  • Suitability assessment:
    • The Commission must be satisfied that successful applicants are of suitable character. They must undergo a rigorous pre-employment suitability screening process that can be intrusive in nature including (but is not limited to) detailed background, character, employment, police and financial checks.

What You'll Need

  • A bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field such as law, criminology, or policing;
  • Relevant experience in a similar role;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment;
  • Flexibility to travel throughout Australia.
