The Role:

The Fraud Investigation Branch assists in protecting the integrity of Commonwealth outlays administered by the Agency and Agency appropriations.

The Branch is primarily involved in detecting and investigating cases of fraud relating to Medicare, Child Support and welfare programs.

It also leads investigations of potential unauthorised access and/or disclosure of information, and internal (Administrative and program) fraud and corruption.

What You'll Do:

  1. Conduct fraud investigations in accordance with Commonwealth law.
  2. Prepare briefs of evidence for consideration by the CDPP where there is sufficient evidence of an offence.
  3. Conduct administrative investigations to determine customers' entitlements.
  4. Apply treatment other than a prosecution referral to match response to risk, act quickly to disrupt behaviour and make the best use of resources.

What You Need:

You must have flexible and versatile leadership skills, excellent interpersonal skills, sound judgement, strong customer focus and ability to engender respect and trust.

Candidates must be driven to continuously learn, innovate and achieve outcomes in a dynamic, fast paced and challenging environment.

Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field are highly desirable.
