About the Role

As a Maritime Survey Specialist, you will play a critical role in supporting naval operations by providing accurate and up-to-date hydrographic data.

You will be responsible for leading teams of surveyors in undertaking various tasks, including beach surveys, small boat operations, and offshore surveying on ships. This will involve utilizing advanced software and hardware to gather data, which will then be used to create detailed charts and maps.

Your career as a Maritime Survey Specialist will be diverse and challenging, with opportunities to work in different locations and on various projects. You will have the chance to develop your technical skills and gain experience in leadership roles.

Career Progression and Training

Your career as a Maritime Survey Specialist will commence with Warfare Officer training, followed by Hydrographic Survey Training. You will also have the opportunity to specialize in advanced hydrographic surveying techniques and complete a postgraduate diploma in Hydrographic Surveying.

Throughout your career, you will be required to complete various courses and training programs to stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and methods. This will include the Junior Officer Common Training (JOCT) course, which covers core skills such as military, mariner, and leadership.

As you progress in your career, you will have the opportunity to take on more senior roles and responsibilities, including leading teams of surveyors and conducting complex surveys. Your salary will increase accordingly, with an estimated annual salary range of $50,597 - $169,941.
