Senior Android Engineer Role Overview

This is a full-time position at the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. The estimated annual salary is $130,000-$160,000 AUD depending on experience and qualifications.

The role involves developing complex, re-usable components and functionality for a broad range of uses across various ABC digital properties as a Senior Android Engineer.

Main Responsibilities
  • Analyzing, designing, and developing app features in full autonomy with expertise in Kotlin.
  • Taking accountability for technical documentation and ensuring development work is properly documented and maintainable.
  • Maintaining awareness of industry best practices and communicating to other development team members to foster implementation throughout development teams.
  • Contributing to the development of best practices and standards to improve output quality.
About You

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Extensive experience in developing scalable, complex and high-performing applications in Kotlin.
  • A strong focus on clean, testable & tested code.
  • Familiarity with modern core Android technologies, especially Jetpack Components.
  • Knowledge of relevant tools such as Java (minimal), Bamboo, Bitbucket, Fastlane, Firebase, Dagger 2, Retrofit 2, Leanback, Kotlin Coroutines, Jetpack Components, OKHttp, Mockito, SDWebImage, RXJava, Tealium.
  • Excellent development skills with demonstrated experience in complex software development for various platforms and devices.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in selecting modern frameworks and build tools, implementing automated/unit testing, and version control strategies.
  • Experience providing technical leadership within a development team and representing that team in discussions with other areas of the business.
  • Excellent project planning and prioritization skills, along with attention to detail while working under pressure to tight deadlines.
