About the Role

The City of Palmerston is seeking a highly skilled Land Conservation Officer to join our City Sustainability team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for supporting a range of programs and services that contribute to the delivery of the City of Palmerston Community Plan.

This role will involve the management of Council's nature conservation areas, including sustainable land management, conservation planning, lake management, and program engagement and education with the community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement sustainable land management plans to protect and conserve Council's nature conservation areas.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver projects and programs that promote conservation and sustainability.
  • Provide education and engagement with the community on conservation and sustainability issues.
  • Manage and maintain Council's nature conservation areas, including weed and fire management.
Requirements
  • Diploma qualifications in Conservation and Land Management, or equivalent.
  • Extensive practical experience and knowledge in land management activities, including project management and/or contractor supervision.
  • Demonstrated experience in the preparation and implementation of land/weed (or relevant) management plans.
  • Excellent customer service skills with experience in handling complex customer enquiries.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal) and build rapport across the organisation and within community.
