We are a community care provider offering a unique approach to supporting children and young people with complex trauma. Our therapeutic homes provide a safe and nurturing environment where young people can heal, grow, and develop important life skills.
">Ongoing SupportRegular supervision and access to an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) ensure that our team members have the tools and resources they need to manage their workload and maintain their well-being.
">Description of the RoleWe seek Casual Therapeutic Care Workers to join our team in the Toowoomba region. As a Therapeutic Care Worker, you will play a key role in supporting children and young people in their healing journey by providing care in therapeutic homes. You will also mentor children and young people through our WeStrive Mentoring Program.
">- Build and promote a positive and caring environment that supports the children/young people residing in our homes.
- Form and maintain professional, nurturing relationships with children and young people by building trust through visible interest and active engagement.
- Maintain safety through effectively implementing Behaviour Support Plans and Individual Crisis Management Plans.
- Work with young people in a manner informed by attachment and trauma-informed care in line with our unique CREATE Model of Care.
- Ensure all essential needs are met for the young person within the home such as providing a balanced diet, prompts with hygiene, support for school engagement, and creating positive life experiences.
- Promote independent living skills including assistance with cooking, meal planning, budgeting, shopping, and maintaining a house and other daily living requirements.
- Demonstrate an empathic understanding of complex trauma, incorporating this understanding into everyday interactions, as well as responding to pain-based behaviour in a sensitive and non-punitive way.
- Mentor and coach children/young people to assist them to achieve their goals through the Strive Mentoring Program.
- Act as an appropriate adult role model, seeking to engage young people in purposeful activities aimed at developing life skills and self-worth.
- Assist and support children/young people to develop links and build their capacity to be part of their community.
Qualifications and Experience
The successful applicant/s will require the following qualifications and experience:
">- A minimum Certificate IV qualification in a relevant discipline is essential.
- A current HLTAID003 Provide First Aid Certificate or equivalent is essential.
- A valid Australian unrestricted/open drivers licence.
- A valid QLD WWCC (blue card).
- A valid NDIS card (yellow card).
- A valid National Police Clearance (within the last 12 months).
- Experience in working with young people with complex trauma is ideal.
- Experience in developing case plans/safety plans/behaviour support plans, case noting and report writing is desirable.
