Role Overview

The Advancement Manager will play a central role in supporting the academic success and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students at the University.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the Advancement Team to improve academic outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
  • Contribute to the delivery and continuous improvement of programs and services at the Gadigal Centre.
  • Provide academic guidance and mentoring to students.
  • Develop and implement tailored learning support initiatives that promote academic progression, retention and completion.
  • Liaise with other University Units to embed culturally responsive policies, procedures, and support frameworks for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
  • Manage and develop staff to ensure high-quality delivery of academic and student support services.
Requirements:
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander societies and cultures.
  • Demonstrated experience in supervision, training, mentoring and performance management of staff.
  • Strong computer literacy skills, particularly corporate level databases and information systems.
  • Excellent time and workload management skills with ability to prioritise effectively, manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and achieve required outcomes.
  • Effective and tactful communication skills together with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Able to use initiative and exercise sound judgement.
About the Opportunity

This position has been designated for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people only. The Gadigal Centre is the University's dedicated student centre for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, providing academic, pastoral and cultural support services to help them achieve their full potential.

The successful candidate will serve as a key point of contact for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, drawing on their cultural knowledge to provide guidance, foster engagement, and support academic progression.

Unrestricted work rights in Australia are required for this appointment. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Ongoing employment is conditional upon satisfactory maintenance of all relevant clearances and background check requirements.
