Job Description

The Head of Business Development will drive Aurizn's growth strategy, leveraging expertise in executing business development plans and achieving revenue targets.

This role will lead a team to promote Aurizn as a supplier of choice within the Defence Industry, taking on business development responsibilities including:

  • Developing and implementing a comprehensive business development strategy, pipeline and partnerships with Defence clients and primes
  • Building a cohesive strategy across the Defence Industry sector to position Aurizn's products, services and solutions for growth
  • Contributing to revenue growth by identifying and securing opportunities to expand Aurizn's reach within client segments
  • Leading large capture campaigns, with focus on programs such as AUKUS & GWEO
  • Positioning Aurizn as a Defence supplier of choice with a focus on national markets with a view to growing into international markets
  • Establishing, developing and maintaining best practice business development and governance processes
  • Leading a small, high-performing business development team dedicated client segments, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence
  • Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with customers to identify new business opportunities, proactively communicate and resolve program issues, and provide strategic direction to program teams

Key Skills and Qualifications

A successful candidate will possess:

  • Strong commercial acumen with proven ability to develop and execute effective sales strategies and exceed revenue targets
  • Proven leadership skills with experience in pursuing and winning complex bids with the ADF and Defence Primes
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, adept at proactively identifying and converting high-value opportunities into sustainable new business revenue
  • Deep understanding of the Australian Defence procurement environment and Defence tendering processes
  • Experience leading, developing and preparing responses to Commonwealth approaches to market, up to ASDEFCON level of complexity
  • Sound understanding of government business development, contract structures, and proposal processes
  • STEM degree or relevant experience in defence industry or other aligned high-tech companies
