Key role in canine rehabilitation operations
Responsible for coordinating a team to manage day-to-day evaluation and management of canine rehabilitation at shelters.
About the Role- Manage a team of behaviour and rehabilitation trainers including recruitment, performance management and rosters.
- Collaborate with shelter staff to assess behaviour of canines before intake and during stay to determine best options.
- Consult with veterinary behaviourists to provide tailored rehabilitation solutions.
- Assess behaviour and welfare of animals prioritising those with greatest needs.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to review suitability for rehoming.
- Lead behaviour team on animal behaviour and rehabilitation providing training and assessment.
- Implement project management initiatives to optimise animal behaviour and welfare.
- Bachelor degree or higher in Animal Science or equivalent experience.
- Certificate IV in Animal Behaviour and Training or Companion Animal Studies.
- Demonstrated experience in a supervisor role with leadership and management skills.
- Minimum 2 years' experience in kennel, shelter or welfare organisation.
- Safe handling experience with cats and dogs with varying behavioural characteristics.
- Force free methods and positive reinforcement training experience.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Resilience dealing with emotional challenges.
- Unrestricted NSW Driver's Licence.
