Head of Credit Strategy Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced professional to lead the review, challenge, and approval of automated credit decisioning strategies across our Personal and Business Bank.

  • Leading the review, challenge, and approval of automated credit decisioning strategies across our Personal and Business Bank.
  • Overseeing portfolio management activities, ensuring robust monitoring and governance of credit risk exposures.
  • Demonstrating the ability to understand, interpret, and convey data insights to make informed decisions.
  • Exhibiting excellent written and verbal communication skills as demonstrated through the preparation of committee packs and memos for senior stakeholders outlining credit quality performance and material risks.
  • Exercising a delegated authority to approve automated credit strategy decisions.
  • Being accountable for ensuring credit strategy decisions are fit for purpose, compliant with regulatory standards, and demonstrate sound risk management practices.
  • Providing strategic leadership and day-to-day management of a high-performing credit strategies and oversight team.
  • Collaborating across business units to drive continuous improvement in credit risk outcomes and portfolio performance.
  • Demonstrating excellent stakeholder influencing and communication skills.

Requirements and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need to bring the following skills and experience:

  • Extensive experience in financial services, consulting, or related fields, with deep expertise in credit risk (minimum 12 years) and associated tertiary qualifications.
  • An aptitude for quantitative analysis and ability to understand, interpret, and convey data insights.
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships and influence stakeholders across all levels.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and managing high-performing teams.
  • Exceptional communication, engagement, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong business acumen with sound judgment and strategic thinking.
  • Advanced problem-solving capabilities and the ability to simplify complex information.
  • Track record of driving outcomes through collaboration, leadership, and risk insight.
  • Knowledge of prudential standards and/or Banking Code of Practice preferred.
