About the Role

The RMIT University is seeking a highly skilled Senior Aviation Safety and Risk Professional to join our team. As a critical member of our organization, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive safety management system (SMS) and risk management framework that aligns with national regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement effective safety policies, procedures, and processes that ensure compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards.
  • Conduct regular audits and investigations to identify areas for improvement and provide recommendations for mitigation.
  • Provide expert advice on safety-related matters and support the development of strategic plans to ensure aviation projects meet regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to foster a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain knowledge of global regulatory frameworks and adapt organizational risk strategies as needed.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated understanding of Safety Management Systems and aviation accident/incident investigation and human factors.
  • Experience in quality, safety, and risk management systems, processes, and techniques.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and influence others to adopt a safety-first culture.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and ability to work independently.
