About the Role

\helpers offer an exciting opportunity for a Defence Aviation Safety Assurance Officer (ASAO) to join their team. As an ASAO, you will play a critical role in promoting aviation safety outcomes for Defence. Your contribution will have a significant bearing on the Directorate of Initial Airworthiness's assurance function for organisations that have been approved as Military Design Organisations or Military Production Organisations supporting defence aviation.

Working within the Design Organisation Approval (DOA) team, your responsibilities will include conducting assurance and oversight activities of Military Design Organisations, including the continued airworthiness domain for aircraft design; conducting assurance and oversight activities of Defence Military Production Organisations; evidence sampling and performing assessments of organisational compliance against regulations; and assessing applications for various DASA-issued Authorisations.\

\.The Directorate of Initial Airworthiness (DIA) is responsible for providing assurance that safety risks are effectively managed. Our team contributes to this by promulgating initial airworthiness policy and regulation, certifying Defence aviation systems, and overseeing design and production organisations. We are a dynamic organisation formed in recent years, offering a diverse range of work to develop your career in aviation safety and beyond.\

Our Ideal Candidate

\.We are looking for a professional engineer who is passionate about aviation safety in the Defence context. You will draw on your broad experience to assess organisational performance and identify safety risks. A high level of methodicalness and attention to detail is required when conducting oversight activities. You should possess professionalism and a confident nature when providing high-quality advice to senior engineering managers and key stakeholders. Knowledge of the Defence Aviation Safety Regulations (DASR) and/or Aviation Safety Management Systems (ASMS) is highly regarded. For this role, you will require a salary of approximately $80,000 - $110,000 per annum, based on your experience and qualifications.
