About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Supervising and Planning Producer to join our team at SBS Arabic TV News. As a key member of our news department, you will be responsible for supervising the content, consistency, quality, legal compliance, workflows, and timely technical delivery of our Arabic News bulletin.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise vision, scripts, GFX, appropriate supers, intros, and request changes where needed.
  • Ensure the highest standards of quality, accuracy, and fairness in our news content.
  • Work closely with the Executive Producer to develop and implement the editorial strategy for our Arabic News bulletin.
  • Collaborate with the production team to ensure timely and efficient delivery of news content.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including news sources, experts, and community leaders.
  • Stay up-to-date with national and international news, and have a deep understanding of the Arabic-speaking community in Australia.
  • Contribute to the development of our news content, including story ideas, research, and writing.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to junior staff members to help them develop their skills and knowledge.
Requirements
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English and broadcast-standard Arabic is essential.
  • Demonstrated experience in professional journalism, with a strong understanding of news production and broadcast standards.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure, meeting strict deadlines and timelines.
  • Experience supervising and subediting TV content, including vision, scripts, GFX, and appropriate supers.
  • Strong short and long-term planning skills, with the ability to coordinate with the team and other departments.
  • Ability to coach and develop junior staff members.
  • Understanding of Australia's legal framework and media law.
  • Experience working with diverse communities and cultures, with a strong understanding of the importance of representation and inclusion.
