Safety Officer Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Safety Officer to join our team at IIQAF. As a key member of our organization, you will play a crucial role in ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for our employees.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement OHS policies and programs to minimize hazards and promote a culture of safety.
  • Provide expert advice on safety-related topics, including noise levels, machinery usage, and hazardous materials.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments and enforce preventative measures to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Review and update existing policies and measures to ensure compliance with legislation and regulations.
  • Design and deliver OHS training programs for employees and executives to enhance their knowledge and skills.
  • Conduct regular inspections of premises and work areas to identify potential hazards and non-conformities.
  • Oversee the installation, maintenance, and disposal of substances and equipment to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Stop any unsafe acts or processes that pose a risk to employees or the organization.
  • Investigate incidents, record findings, and provide statistical information to upper management to inform decision-making.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience as a Safety Officer with a strong background in OHS legislation and procedures.
  • Excellent knowledge of potentially hazardous materials and practices.
  • Experience in writing reports and policies for health and safety.
  • Familiarity with data analysis and reporting statistics.
  • Proficient in MS Office and safety management information systems.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively convey health and safety information.
  • BSc/BA in safety management, engineering, or a relevant field is preferred.
  • Certificate in occupational health and safety is required.
