Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Worker

This is a permanent part-time (10.5 hours per week) opportunity to support students, teachers, and school communities in the areas of culture, spirituality, and student wellbeing and engagement.

  • The role will focus on promoting the intent of the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle's Reconciliation Action Plan.

About the Role:

The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Worker will be responsible for supporting students, teachers, and school communities in the areas of culture, spirituality, and student wellbeing and engagement.

  1. Demonstrated experience and expertise working in educational settings with a focus on supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
  2. Demonstrated experience in engaging with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and communities.
  3. Established and ongoing links with the local and/or wider Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.
  4. Demonstrated ability to work as an effective team member in an educational setting.

Requirements:

  • Being Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander is a genuine occupational qualification for this position.
  • Current paid Working with Children Check number.
  • Willingsness to Comply with the CSO Accreditation to Work, Teach and Lead Policy.
