As a culturally responsive mental health professional, you will be working in a fast-paced environment that requires strong interpersonal skills and the ability to navigate complex cultural dynamics.

The role involves providing timely and high-quality advice, information, and brief interventions via phone and online platforms to support culturally and linguistically diverse communities across New South Wales.

You will utilise your bilingual and bi-cultural skills to enhance engagement, clinical outcomes, and effective service referrals. This includes conducting brief assessments, offering culturally relevant support, and linking consumers to appropriate services.

Collaboration with mental health teams, interpreters, NGOs, and other providers is essential to ensure seamless care. You will maintain professional standards, contribute to service improvements, and participate in clinical supervision and education.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing culturally responsive mental health support and information to CALD communities

  • Maintaining professional standards and contributing to service improvements

To succeed in this role, you will require:

  • Tertiary qualifications in social work or psychology
  • Full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia or eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers
  • Extensive experience in providing mental health and psychosocial assessment for consumers from CALD communities
  • Demonstrated transcultural knowledge and experience, as well as bilingual professional capacity
  • Effective interpersonal skills and ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with clients across cultures
