About this role:

We are seeking a seasoned professional to fill the position of Commercial Strategist, providing expert support and guidance on complex procurement and contracting activities.

  • This role involves assessing supplier market trends, including current and future market capacity and capability.
  • You will be responsible for designing and developing acquisition/procurement strategies, including analysis of potential contracting models and commercial arrangements.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial contracts development and management, with at least some time spent working in an Australian Defence procurement and contracting context.

A minimum of 8 years of experience is required, along with strong knowledge and experience in several key areas, including coordination or management of complex procurement projects, application of different procurement and contracting methodologies/models, assessing commercial risk, participation in tender evaluations, and contract negotiation.

The successful candidate will possess personal traits such as collaboration, professional curiosity, self-motivation, reliability, professionalism, building business relationships, courage, integrity, and excellent communication skills.

A tertiary qualification in Law, Commerce, Business, or a related field is preferred, along with relevant industry certifications and security clearances.

Experience in applying ASDEFCON templates and commonwealth and Defence procurement policies and procedures is highly valued.
