Clinical Specialist – Mental Health and Addiction Services

The Senior AOD Clinician plays a vital role in leading clinical responses, providing timely interventions and coordinated care pathways for individuals with complex mental health and substance use needs.
This position requires a high level of expertise in Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) sciences and the ability to apply evidence-based psychological therapies and interventions.
Responsibilities- Assess and intervene with clients presenting with complex mental health and substance use issues.
- Develop and implement client-centred treatment plans in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
- Conduct assessments, case management, and provide evidence-based therapy interventions.
- Work collaboratively with local health, community, and social services to ensure coordinated and holistic care.
- Build capacity within the team by sharing AOD expertise, delivering internal training, and contributing to reflective practice.
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Youth Work, Mental Health or other related field.
- Certificate IV in AOD or 4 AOD core competencies or willingness to complete studies during employment within first 6 months.
- Proven experience conducting assessments, case management, and development of client-centred treatment plans.
- Proven clinical experience applying evidence-based psychological therapies and interventions, including robust understanding of theoretical concepts within Mental Health and AOD sciences.
- Strong interpersonal verbal skills with the ability to build rapport, negotiate, and facilitate client outcomes.
- Demonstrated experience in assessment of clients with complex needs utilising relevant AOD screening tools.
- Strong professional written case noting skills.
