
Technical Systems Coordinator

As a Technical Systems Officer, you will be instrumental in supporting the development, implementation, and maintenance of state-wide radio communications and emergency services management systems. Based in Cronulla, NSW, this full-time position requires close collaboration with the IT team and broader operations to integrate mission-critical systems and support volunteer members across NSW.
About the Role
This pivotal role involves:
- Supporting the maintenance and expansion of the VHF marine radio network and associated systems
- Coordinating and administering competitive procurement for suppliers and services
- Managing a virtualised computing environment supporting digital communications infrastructure
- Assisting in budget monitoring for radio and IT infrastructure projects
- Reviewing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures related to communications and IT
- Collaborating with vendors and supporting contract management for key service providers
- Visiting sites across NSW to support volunteer units and troubleshoot systems in person
Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you will require hands-on experience with radio communications and IP network systems, as well as a project management style approach to coordinating technical work. Proven capability in systems administration and managing virtualised environments, particularly VMware, is highly desirable. Additionally, you should have the ability to oversee vendor relationships and competing priorities in a dynamic environment.

- Practical experience in the maritime or emergency services sector
- Familiarity with VHF/UHF radio systems
- Understanding of the radio and telecommunications regulatory environment in Australia
