Community Engagement Practitioner

Centacare Brisbane is a non-profit community organisation that supports the strengthening of family and community relationships, particularly where there is vulnerability and disadvantage. Our services are available to the entire community regardless of religion, circumstance, ethnicity, economic situation, age, gender or ability. We strive to deliver professional and accountable services whilst empowering our clients to find solutions and achieve their goals.

The Role

We are seeking a Community Engagement Practitioner to join our team based in Fortitude Valley on a six-month fixed term contract on a part-time basis. In this role, you will work to network and engage within the local community to promote Centacare Brisbane's regional services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in relevant networking with other agencies and providers in the Family and Relationships Service sector
  • Contribute to the review, improvement, and implementation of community accessibility strategies
  • Co-facilitate group education programs with accredited facilitators
  • Engage directly with referred clients to provide 'soft entry' connection for clients to access services
  • Assist with the integration of a 'learning organisation' and continuous improvement culture within the program
  • Undertake internal and external networking, planning, and development activities relevant to the role
  • Undertake data collection and administration tasks associated with the maintenance of the position
Requirements
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Social or Behavioural Science
  • Demonstrated experience in networking with other relevant agencies and providers in the Family and Relationships Service sector
  • Ability to undertake internal and external networking, planning, and development activities relevant to the role
  • Experience in ensuring an effective, collaborative relationship with relevant Service Delivery Coordinators / Senior Practitioners
  • Well-developed written work and computer literacy skills
  • Highly effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to support build pathways with the community
  • Demonstrated knowledge in the principles and practices of community development and engagement
Essential Requirements
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications are essential
  • Current Blue Card or eligibility to apply
  • Current driver's licence
  • Current Australian Federal Police Criminal History Check or successful application
  • Working rights in Australia
