Job Overview

Maintenance Technician (Mechanical Fitter or Electrician). The role is based in Canberra, ensuring the overall smooth and efficient operation of rolling stock maintenance in line with policies and procedures. Reporting to Team Leaders and Maintenance Manager.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out preventative and corrective maintenance on all aspects of CAF rolling stock.
  • Test, diagnose and conduct repairs of electronic, mechanical and electrical components.
  • Inspect bodywork, roofs and undercarriages for wear and tear or damage.
  • Repair or replace parts.
  • Carry out regular checks on brakes and couplings.
  • Take apart, test and reassemble mechanical, electrical and pneumatic systems.
  • Write reports and update the Maintenance Management System.
  • Record material movements.
Requirements

A Trade Certificate/Licence in Electrical, Mechanical or other trade.

Preferred Skills
  • Experience as a Mechanic, especially bus/diesel mechanic.
  • Electrical licence highly regarded.
  • Previous experience with maintenance of heavy machinery an advantage.

The successful candidate will maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with all health and safety legislative requirements.

Additional Requirements
  • Be available for day/afternoon shift work on a rotational basis.
