Facilities Maintenance Specialist Role

The role of the Facilities Maintenance Specialist is to provide maintenance support across all facilities, focusing on building, structural, and trade-related issues.

This includes undertaking and coordinating general maintenance and repair works, planning and delivering small-scale building and site improvement projects, and ensuring compliance with relevant safety and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Undertake and coordinate general maintenance and repair works across all facilities
  • Scope, plan, and deliver small-scale building and site improvement projects
  • Liaise with external trades, contractors, and suppliers
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities
  • Ensure compliance with OH&S standards

This position requires a strong problem-solving approach, initiative, and ability to work collaboratively with staff and leadership. The ideal candidate will have a trade qualification, demonstrated experience in facilities maintenance or building works, and excellent communication and organisational skills.

Key Selection Criteria:
- Trade qualification (e.g. carpentry, plumbing, electrical) and demonstrated experience in facilities maintenance or building works.
- Proven ability to independently manage and complete maintenance tasks, repairs, and minor capital works.
- Strong problem-solving and initiative, with a proactive approach to asset upkeep and infrastructure improvement.
- Experience working with contractors and external trades, including obtaining quotes and overseeing on-site work.
- Strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and adapt to a busy setting.
- Capacity to work collaboratively with school staff and leadership while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
