Job Title: Financial Operations Specialist

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Financial Operations Specialist to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to make a real impact in the financial operations of a forward-thinking local government organization.

This role will provide expert support in financial planning, forecasting, and reporting, while fostering strong relationships with operational teams across the organization. You will be responsible for preparing monthly journal reclassifications, preparing timely and accurate financial reports, and assisting in the preparation and monitoring of the annual budget.

You will also be supporting staff across the organization with budget-related training and expert advice on financial systems. Additionally, you will be analyzing financial data to inform decisions and drive business efficiency.

This is a critical role within the Financial Services team, offering the opportunity to support financial practices that underpin the organization's broader strategic and community goals.

Requirements:
  • Degree in accounting, commerce, economics, or a related discipline
  • CA/CPA status (or working towards) or equivalent professional experience
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to engage effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Proficient in financial systems, advanced Excel skills, and internal controls
  • Strong analytical, reconciliation, and problem-solving capabilities
  • Exceptional attention to detail and discretion in handling confidential information
