Recreation Leader

We are seeking Recreation Leaders to provide person-centred supports within a wellness and reablement framework, building independence and supporting participants' choices and lifestyle preferences.

You will work under the direction of the Recreation Coordinator(s) to provide a range of recreation programs and camps to children and adults with disabilities.

  • Drive Gateways Support Services buses and vehicles during scheduled program times.
  • Allocate participants to staff based on ratios and support requirements.
  • Support team members and volunteers to follow person-centred and active support practices.
  • Actively support participants to meet their goals and the broader goals of the program.

The successful applicants must be able to commit to a minimum of 3 days per week during school holidays and be available for weekend shifts, Friday evening shifts and other times as negotiated.

Key requirements include:

  • High level of emotional intelligence with the ability to self-reflect.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal, non-verbal and written).
  • Demonstrated experience supervising support staff in a Disability Services environment.
  • Proven capacity to contribute to building a team focused on high-quality service.
  • Experience in developing quality recreational activities.
  • Certificate IV in Disability or Community Services (desirable).
  • Commitment to teamwork and accountability.
