Senior Actuarial Analyst Job Description

The role of Senior Actuarial Analyst involves applying actuarial principles to provide expert advice on key business decisions and liability valuations, with a focus on reserving.

  • Support the preparation of annual actuarial valuation and financial condition reports.
  • Manage monthly liability valuations and contribute to statutory reporting requirements.
  • Assist with year-end assumptions, financial accounts, and audits to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  • Maintain IFRS 17 financial journals in accordance with regulatory standards.
  • Identify opportunities to improve reserving and reporting processes, enhancing the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the team.
  • Review CTP claims development and provide valuable insights into portfolio performance.
  • Collaborate closely with Claims, Pricing, Underwriting, and Finance teams to drive business results.
  • Ensure adherence to policies, procedures, and risk management practices at all times.
  • Contribute to the Actuarial Control Cycle through technical and peer reviews, providing constructive feedback and recommendations for improvement.
  • Deliver ad-hoc analysis and reporting as required, leveraging analytical and problem-solving skills to drive business outcomes.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science or a related field is essential.
  • Progress towards Actuary qualification (Institute of Actuaries or equivalent) is also required.
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in actuarial roles within general insurance, preferably in reserving, is necessary.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and Excel skills are crucial for success in this position.
  • Knowledge of IFRS 17, regulatory frameworks, and actuarial standards is mandatory.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are vital for effective collaboration and stakeholder engagement.
  • Proactive and adaptable team players with strong attention to detail, time management under pressure, integrity, and commitment to ongoing development are highly sought after.
