
Marine Research Diving Officer

About the Role:
- The position is a critical component of our field operations, requiring an experienced professional to provide expert technical advice on safe diving and field activities.
- This includes ensuring compliance with policies and regulations, as well as developing and maintaining safety documentation for equipment and activities.
- The successful candidate will investigate concerns regarding dive equipment usage and contribute to a positive safety culture.
- Maintaining accurate registers and staying up-to-date with current best practices in diving operations are essential responsibilities of this role.
- The incumbent will assist with strategic planning and budgeting for facility capability and requirements, while also serving as part of the Emergency Response Team for field operations and vessel activities.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- A degree or extensive experience in marine research and diving instruction is required.
- Proven leadership and supervision skills are necessary to ensure a safe and efficient workplace environment.
- Coxswain (Grade 1) certification and experience operating small vessels in different weather conditions are also essential qualifications.
- The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of work, health, and safety practices and be able to influence positive change within the organization.
- Significant experience in conducting and implementing risk assessments and safe working practices is highly valued.
- High level organizational skills, time management, and ability to act independently within established guidelines are also key attributes of the successful candidate.
- Ability to analyze and solve complex technical and non-technical problems in field situations is a critical requirement for this position.
