**Job Overview:**

The Marine National Facility requires a Group Leader, Operations to oversee the delivery of safe and successful marine research.

This role is responsible for setting and maintaining technical excellence through effective leadership of the Voyage and Facilities Teams.

You will manage capital expenditure processes, high-level management of outsourced ship management contracts, procurement, coordination of maintenance, and ensure science readiness of multi-disciplinary scientific instruments and equipment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Technical Leadership:
    • Manage Voyages and Facilities teams, leading staff representing various disciplines, managing resources, directing completion of complex technical projects.
    • Champion development, implementation, and standardisation of procedures and techniques.
    • Oversight of physical Program facilities, including vessels and associated scientific equipment and instrumentation.
  • People Leadership:
    • Strive for 'Zero Harm' through commitment to healthy, safe, and environmentally sustainable workplaces.
    • Exemplify and foster collaboration and teamwork, developing team's ability to work across structural boundaries to achieve program-wide goals.
    • Supervise, mentor, and support staff to achieve high levels of performance and provide opportunities for professional and career development.
