Job Overview

The District Mechanical Officer role involves the execution of mechanical tasks related to fleet asset maintenance and servicing. This position requires working under the direction of a workshop officer in charge, adhering to safety standards and CFA maintenance procedures.

  • Execute preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, and approved modifications to fleet assets as directed by the workshop OIC.
  • Ensure fleet assets are maintained in accordance with relevant industry standards and CFA maintenance procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation on work performed.
  • Utilize CFA software to create electronic Work Orders.
  • Liaise with Brigade members regarding proposed work and work performed.
  • Provide regular reporting to the Officer-in-Charge on maintenance, administrative, and technical matters.
  • Adhere to industrial safety standards.

Successful applicants will possess a Motor Mechanic Qualification and hold a Heavy Rigid Driver Licence. Alternatively, they can obtain the Heavy Rigid drivers' licence within timeframes set out by CFA if not held initially. Additionally, candidates should have the skills and ability to maintain safety at an Incident Scene and render assistance to others (First Aid L2), which can be obtained within CFA-set timeframes if not already acquired.
