The position we are looking to fill is that of a key business partner who will play a pivotal role in driving commercial growth and profitability for our organisation.

About the Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially astute individual to join our team and contribute to our goal of sustainable sales growth. As a member of our Commercial & Finance Team, you will be responsible for the timely preparation and analysis of financial and operational information for our Sales Entities.

  • Provide strategic leadership and support to our Sales teams, focusing on delivering profitable growth and ensuring efficient use of working capital.
  • Ensure all internal reporting is completed diligently and delivered within set timeframes.
  • Prepare commercial analysis and support the presentation of customer tenders, evaluating opportunities for cost savings and efficiency gains.
  • Manage and execute internal cost rolls and quarterly cost roll simulations, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes as needed.
  • Assist the Sales teams in managing price increases to customers from both a collective and individual perspective, maintaining accurate pricing registers.
  • Partner with our Group IT and Enablement areas to automate data points required to understand end-to-end customer profitability, evaluating output against business targets and identifying opportunities for cost reduction.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Group Supply Chain teams to provide insights into stock forecast accuracy, aiming to improve forecasting processes and highlight potential issues early.
  • Review all Customer Contracts/Supply Agreements, ensuring compliance and identifying opportunities for cost savings.
  • Manage Customer Rebates, Settlement Discounts, and any potential disputes or claims, resolving issues promptly and fairly.
  • Ensure forecasting is substantiated with supporting documentation and calculations, providing transparency and accountability.
  • Foster a strong focus on freight and warehousing costs, providing guidance to management on targeting cost reductions through efficiency gains in our logistics chain.
  • Analyse the costs to serve of our Sales Entities, highlighting deviations from budget and identifying opportunities to reduce costs and deliver improved, cost-effective alternatives.
  • Report on sales performance, comparing actual data to projections and expectations, market performance, and progress against key objectives.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts in line with Group policies and timelines, ensuring accuracy and transparency.
  • Complete and submit the internal control checklist in a timely manner, demonstrating adherence to Group policies and procedures.
  • Support External Auditors in a prompt and professional manner, ensuring seamless audit processes.
  • Maintain awareness of Government and industry legislative requirements, ensuring compliance and adherence.
About You

To succeed in this role, you will require:

  • A degree qualification in Business, Finance, or Accounting, complemented by a CA or CPA qualification.
  • Strong commercial acumen, combined with effective negotiation and influencing skills, allowing you to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Previous experience working with senior management in a commercial or business role, demonstrating your ability to drive results and achieve objectives.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage deadlines effectively.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, enabling you to communicate complex ideas and data effectively.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, coupled with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Resilience and a willingness to take initiative, driving positive change and continuous improvement.
