About this Role
The Senior Payroll Officer plays a key role in managing and processing multiple payrolls across various frequencies, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. This is a hands-on, standalone position suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys working autonomously, and is passionate about precision, compliance, and continuous improvement.
This role involves
- Managing and processing multiple payrolls, interpreting employment agreements, awards, and organizational policies to ensure correct employee payments
- Maintaining accurate records of pay transactions, leave balances, staff movements, and workers' compensation payments
- Performing complex payroll calculations including leave accruals, superannuation, redundancy, and taxation
- Investigating and resolving discrepancies, including processing back payments when required
- Supporting compliance and reporting requirements, including headcount, staff movement, leave liability, and FBT reports
- Assisting with month-end reporting, reconciliations, and general ledger activities
About You
This role is ideal for a confident and detail-oriented payroll professional with:
- 5+ years' experience in a standalone or senior payroll role, ideally within a complex, multi-site organization
- Proven experience in end-to-end payroll processing and payroll system management
- Strong understanding of Australian payroll legislation, taxation, superannuation, and award interpretation
- High attention to detail, excellent numerical and analytical skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-focused mindset
This is a permanent role requiring full working rights in Australia.
