About the Role

The Financial Manager position is a critical role within the Finance Team at Eastern Health, responsible for assisting with managing the Financial Accounting function. The incumbent reports to the Financial Controller and has staff reporting to them, including a Financial Accountant, Project Officer, and Assistant Financial Accountant.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare daily and weekly cash forecasts, as well as monthly cashflow statements, including a rolling estimate for management executives, the Board, and the Department of Health & Human Services.
  • Manage the Health Services surplus cash in line with cashflow projections and Investment Policy and Strategies.
  • Ensure sufficient funds are available in the transactional Bank account to make payments to suppliers and payroll.
  • Review and post journals, as well as review and sign off Balance Sheet Reconciliations each month.
  • Prepare quarterly commentary and discuss reconciliations with the Financial Controller.
  • Assist with year-end note preparation for the Annual Financial Statements and internal and external audit queries.
About You

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • CPA or CA qualification with full current membership.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • 2+ years' experience in a similar role or 5+ years of Senior Accountant experience.
  • Able to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Appropriate experience in an accounting position.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide effective financial and accounting services within a team environment.
  • Highly developed written and interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.
  • Demonstrated creative and critical thinking skills with a can-do attitude.
  • Proficiency with Windows-based applications, particularly spreadsheets and databases.
