Mechanical Engineer Role

Our organization is seeking a skilled and driven mechanical engineer to fill a vital role at the mill. In this position, you'll be the technical expert and reliability lead for a designated area of the mill, driving safe, cost-effective, and efficient maintenance practices that directly impact plant performance and business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leading safety practices and promoting a 'zero-harm' culture across maintenance teams and contractors
  • Developing and implementing proactive and predictive maintenance strategies to improve equipment reliability and availability to meet production requirements
  • Identifying and delivering continuous improvement projects and capital projects to ensure long-term sustainability
  • Managing maintenance costs and spare parts inventories to optimize total cost of ownership
  • Coordinating and executing planned shutdowns and repairs
  • Providing coaching and technical guidance to the broader maintenance team
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
  • Strong background in mechanical engineering, preferably within heavy industry or manufacturing
  • Proven ability to improve plant reliability through structured maintenance strategies
  • Experience leading safety initiatives and ensuring compliance with WHS standards
  • Strong understanding of RCA methods and asset management strategies
  • Excellent communication and leadership capabilities
  • Proficiency in CMMS for planning and tracking maintenance activities
  • Exceptional project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as in a team environment
