
Expert Town Planner

As a Development Assessment Team Leader, you will play a pivotal role in guiding a team of planners in assessing development applications and modification applications. This role presents an exceptional opportunity to leverage your expertise in town planning and drive meaningful outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and report on all forms of development applications and modification applications, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and policies.
- Liaise effectively with the public, developers, and other stakeholders to facilitate communication and resolve queries.
- Respond promptly to written and verbal enquiries regarding planning matters, providing accurate and comprehensive information.
- Act as an expert witness in the Land and Environment Court as required, demonstrating your authority and knowledge in town planning.
- Supervise the investigation, evaluation, and reporting of all applications, ensuring timely completion and high-quality results.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to development planners and staff, enhancing their skills and knowledge in processing and assessing development applications and modification applications.
- Interpret complex planning issues and legislation, applying your expertise to inform decision-making.
- Hold a degree or diploma qualification in town planning, regional or urban planning recognised by the Planning Institute of Australia or related discipline.
- Possess extensive experience in development assessment, ensuring the desired level of expertise/knowledge to carry out the functions of the position effectively.
- Have experience handling a wide range of complex applications relating to various types of developments on industrial, commercial, or residential zoned land.
- Be experienced in acting as an expert witness in the Land and Environment Court.
- Demonstrate proven experience in assessment and application of alternative solutions as provided for under relevant legislation.
- Exhibit excellent communication skills, enabling effective interaction with internal and external stakeholders, including the ability to deal with the community and professional industry to achieve optimal outcomes.
- Showcase demonstrated experience and ability in supervising employees and fostering a team environment.
- Display the ability to interpret Acts and policies, making informed decisions that take into account circumstances and legislative requirements.
- Hold a current Class C Driver's Licence and SafeWork NSW WHS White Card.
