Lead Legal Strategist for State Development and Infrastructure

As a key member of the Department of State Development and Infrastructure, we are seeking an experienced General Counsel to lead our legal team.
The estimated salary for this position is $220,000 - $270,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
The successful candidate will have strong leadership skills and be able to provide strategic legal advice on complex issues affecting the department. This may include commercial, contract, construction, property, planning, and infrastructure law, as well as administrative law and statutory planning powers.
About the RoleWe are looking for someone with exceptional communication and negotiation skills to liaise with internal clients and external stakeholders, including other government agencies and private sector companies.
- Provide high-level legal advice on strategic matters, ensuring value for money and quality of work produced by external providers;
- Liaise with the Minister, Director-General, Coordinator-General, and other decision makers to manage complex litigation;
- Develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with external legal providers and stakeholders;
- Proactively identify and manage current and emerging legal issues, priorities, and risks affecting the department;
- Lead an empowered, highly engaged, and capable team through a commitment to the department's shared purpose, vision, and values;
