The primary purpose of this job is to investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and settle marine/specialty/property claims cases by collecting and analyzing data according to policy application and/or contract provisions.
Determine whether to accept or deny a claim based on all documentation received.
Typical claims include policy cancellations due to non-payment denial letters required.
Significant emphasis is made on loss mitigation (i.e., salvage and subrogation).
Apart from claim service and client management, this aspect of the role is key for the profitability of the marine line of business.
The incumbent will be asked to properly establish a solid position before liable third parties.
Key Responsibilities- Investigate and evaluate marine/specialty/property claims cases
- Negotiate and settle claims with policyholders and third parties
- Analyze data to determine claim validity and liability
- Develop and implement loss mitigation strategies
- Provide excellent client service and communication
- Adequate specialist knowledge (Lo B) in technical claims matters
- Medium to advanced knowledge of marine claims handling
- Knowledge of policy terminology and legal/regulatory requirements
- Basic to medium knowledge of litigation and dispute resolution procedures
- Experience in negotiation, mediation, arbitration, and alternative dispute resolution
